Illustrious Lab work has been centered, since 2019, mostly on Nordic countries, especially through the Illustrious North project supported by the Nordisk Kulturfond (Nordic Council).
Illustrious Lab is now opening a new chapter in Asia as well as strengthening the conversation between Europe and Asia.
Asian Design Futures
Asian Design Futures is a project that re-examines East Asian-West relations, through design and everything it includes (illustration, manga, films, architecture, fashion, etc.), particularly in relation to youth . The project strengthens exchanges and conversations between actors from these regions, by promoting the meeting and participation of professionals from East Asia within these activities in an intercultural and global culture dynamic.

Asia+ and Asian Design Futures are including the following countries, but not only:
- South Korea – Through different collaborative projects (upcoming). A French-Korean conversation with our Korean partners to be published as an article soon for a French-Korean cluster, an Asian version of our Co-Play project..
- China – Through our studies conducted in relation with China. Tell Me workshops conducted in Wuxi (near Shanghai).
- Japan – Through our collaboration with Hiroko Onoe and recurring workshops “Me as a Manga character – Invent your costume“
