BY ME and TELL ME are two projects inviting children to express their relation with clothing and the way they represent it.

BY ME – These are series of workshops conducted with several children, either in groups (for examples with kindergartens and schools) or individually, in Finland, Norway and Sweden, where children are invited to participate to activities addressing children’s perception of clothing, fashion, pattern design etc. (to draw on fabric, to create their own pattern designs, to reveal secret elements hidden on fabric or to dress Nordic animals on a dedicated coloring book). These series have been launched in 2019 with the creation of the Secret garden workshops for the Helsinki Children’s Design Week.

TELL ME – This is the first project with children, developed under the umbrella of D4CR Local Chapters (Designing For Children’s Rights) as part of the IN2FROCC programme. Based on the visual analysis of what children wear and how they define themselves in fashion, the “Amis-habits” of schools around the world share their daily interactions with clothing. The focus on children’s answers contribute to our understanding of children’s interactions with clothing.
